BUSINESS IS LIFE!! TIPS ON HOW TO BECOME A BUSINESS OWNER

As things are going especially, in this modern world, resulting from diversification of every kind, man never fails to adopt the rapid changes in the business world. Man, among all other higher primates, is believed to be the most sensible being on the planet. He changes with time and makes necessary adjustments especially when it comes to ways of making a living.

Looking at today's economy, especially with the way governmental system of administration is going, employments, job creation, or having a good job at white house, government offices or  ASO ROCK have become a thing not to write about. For this reason, men and women who know that business is life have closed the chapter of being graduated from university, searching for white collar job for years without finding any; and are making their ways into the business world.


Today, we are going to look at the major issues facing by those who work for people (companies)  from January to December; and compare their flexibility of  lifestyle, financial status, peace of mind, freedom and generally, total benefits with those who have chosen to be self-employed as entrepreneurs, business man or woman.

A  man, known as Mr Williams used to complain about his job and was always hating his life for living a life of suffering even though he was working with  a company (name unknown) as quality control; but never met up with the necessity of life. Everything he  realized from the company where he was working was never sustain him and his family. One day, he shared this experience with one of his friends who introduced him to the buying and selling of local commodity in one of the local markets in his vicinity; precisely, in Ugbokolo, Benue state, Nigeria. He was always living from hand to mouth. He lived and sustained by debt. His monthly salary was N25,000. At the end of the month, when he received his salary, the  disbursement of his salary was crazy! After disbursing his salary, he would be left with nothing. Before the 15th of the following month, he would have borrowed up to the half of his monthly payment. This continued until he came to his senses and said, "Why am I continuing suffering working for people from January to December without counting on anything, while there are millions of business opportunities out there where one can make cool money under no one's pressure and threats? I think it's time for me to make a U-turn". That was how his wealth began!
It all kicked off  because of his burning desire, ultimate decision and goal to become somebody of a great value in the society.

On one Eke market, he went to Ubolo Afor (This is one of the markets where people who engage in real time business do buy their goods) at that time. He used the little amount of money left with him from his last payment to purchase some goods, of which he used as his starting point to greatness. Within six months of his business, he confirmed to have realized roughly more than N2million naira after cost price and expenses analysis. He was marvelled and said, " All this while, I have lost more than I can count. There is nothing like running your own business. Now, I can proud to be a man, not just a man but, a man who can go anywhere, speak anywhere, and raise a voice and be heard in the society."

My dear readers, there is nothing like business in the world of economy! If you really want to make it as exactly as you may want it in life, I will advice that the only clean and sure  way to get to the peak of your greatness is to engage in a very lucrative business. However, if you are working for a company, in a situation where there is no quick resources to resign your post, you can still implement the secret income strategy to boost your financial status. What is secret income strategy? This can be seen as another way of making additional income aside one's normal job. For instance; If there is little amount of money in your possession, as you keep working in that organization, you can invest this money in any business strictly, only known to you. E.g, setting up of a pure water firm can be of a great help, and a very good example of secret income strategy. Note: everything in life has a price! There is always a sacrifice (s) that one needs to make to gain or achieve a particular tangible thing. To make money, you need to spend money!  Money lies in the bank  is nothing but, like money heaps in a pit without making use of it. Clean insinuation here! The best way you can make additional income is to invest the little money in your possession. No matter how small it might be, you can definitely find a business, lucrative ones that it may fit in. Invest the money, even if it's to buying and re-selling of yam, pure water, egg rolls, fish rolls, puff puff flower food, repairing of handset, e.t.c. These types of businesses do not require a huge amount of money to start. It only requires your determination, passion and zeal to become financially independent. When this decision is made, you are set to make additional income.

Now, let us go into the real case study of the day. Once again, we are looking at the difference between those who work for company and those who stand on their own as entrepreneurs, business men and women of our time.

There is a saying that when the desirable is not available the available becomes desirable. Yes, this is unquantifiable fact!

As a man, you must put your hands on something worths doing!  If you really want to become somebody in life, you must definitely dare something. If you eventually dare nothing, you definitely become nothing. No objection to this statement.

What are you doing for a living? Working for people (Companies) as a lawyer, doctor, driver, cleaner, production manager, labourer,? Mention it.

Are you okay with the company you are working with? Are you okay with your salary? Are you not living from hand to mouth? Can you be able to pay your utility bills? What have you left with after the disbursement of your monthly payment?

These are the questions every salary earner should strive to provide answers to. Answering these questions without being affected, as a salary earner you are good to stick to your position in that company but, if you find any one difficult to answer, obviously it's high time you make quick decision to join the business world of economy.

The following are the reasons a lot of individuals nowadays love going into personal business instead to remain a slave, making hell of money for people from January to December; but can not count any achievements of their own:

1. This is a fact! If you like it, or not; it remains for ever indisputable fact. I don't know wether you have heard, knew about it or not, but I want to quickly let you know that the reason you received salary but could not use it for anything tangible is that, before  companies will pay staff salary, the money would be taken to a shrine, blocked and killed the Value of that money. Any hands that touch the money will not make better use of it. That is the curse on the money! I have heard, seen and experienced it. It is true. This is one of the biggest problems 99% of all salary earners are facing today.

2. As a result of the blockage and killing of this money value, money never last in the hands of salary earners.

3. When there is no money in hands, the alternative to get something for sustainability and up keeping of the family become "Borrowing".

4. Borrowing is never a way to forwardness, but a broad part to backwardness.

5. By Borrowing, you become indebted! And when you are indebted, the indebtedness makes you to swimming in bondages.

6. The insufficiency of funds to pay utility bills

7. Living from hand to mouth

8. Missing of opportunities and big time connection as a result of spending almost all their time in a specific job assigned to them

9. Facing a lot of insult, harassment and embarrassment by the top officials in the company

10. As a salary earner, labourer, cleaner, driver, housemaid or any post it could be, as long as you are working for a company you have no time for yourself. It is a well known fact that time is money. He who that doesn't have time can not make money.


Business is life! Stop working for people from January to December without counting the achievements of your own. Become your own boss today. The decision to become, either rich or poor is solely your responsibility.
If you have chosen to become great in life, here are the requirements:
1.Burning desire
2.Decision
3.Determination
4.Action

Millions of people are changing line of making a living everyday, especially in west Afrian countries, today. What line are they switching to? And why are they making this change? These are the questions you might ask.

Having asked this question, you deserve relevant answers to all of them.

Obviously, there is no specific way or magic should I provide to make anyone gets rich or financially independent as quick as you may expect it. However, I always stand on the truth of business world. The truth is that working for people is just a wasting of time. I am not saying you should not work for people. Definitely, one must work to get something; even if one is so anxiously inclined to have his own business, he must first of all work at least for like two to three years.  Within this period of two or three years, he who has plan to set up his own business should be able to raise enough money, resources to set himself up, a very lucrative business.

What is your target? What do you plan to establish with the little amount of money you are collecting from your current company? Or you have no plan for the future? Do you know that the owner of the company can decide one day that he is tired of your service and pay you off?  Or do you not know you can be sacked at any time as you are working in that company? If you have never thought of all this  before, sit back and rethink again. I will advice that before you got sacked, ensure you have your own business secretly running somewhere.

Meanwhile, I want to quickly share with you the experience of Peter Anosike, the author of "Mastering Your Destiny" as salary earner. Peter was the first born in a family of eight children. As you all know, being a first born of any family, you have a lot of responsibilities on your shoulders. Isn't it?  His father died when he was in the second year in the university.  His aged mum and the children were dependently surviving by him. Along a line, he got sacked from the company where he was doing very well. He could not tell his aged mum that he has been booted out of work because if he eventually dare it, the old woman will change address (die). Soon, he was rapidly running out of cash after some months he was sacked, for there was no money come in any more. According to him, deep inside him, he knew the job he was doing was not his job, but he was there just because of family pressure. He thought and thought, saying "I can write textbooks for primary and secondary school students, why am I going down every day for perverty".  That was how he started his writing career. He rolled out another 10,000 copies which were confirmed to have been exhausted in just one local government with more than 33 councils. Under one year, with just one book he was able to achieve financial independence. He was able to buy a car for himself, and a car for the family. He equally deposited some amount of money which i do not know the actual amount into the accounts of his siblings that enabled them finished their schooling with ease.

There is nothing like running your own business! He achieved and became financially buoyant for taking that pretty decision even though it was conditional.  But the fact remains that he could have never achieved all those things if he had chosen to remain with the company or if he was not sacked.

Most of the time when I talk about setting up one's business, I always entertain a lot of questions that go this way: "what business can I do? How and where  do I get money to start?  Now, for the sake of those that might have not gotten my answers directly to these questions, I will quickly like to teach you how to get started with your business.


First of all, you must look at the area you are living to see the type of business that will move very fantastically well in the environ. One thing that scares thousands of people away when it comes to starting their choice of business is nothing but, fear of competition.  You can never run away from competition especially, in a commodity market. So, zero that!  Let there be thousands of traders in that line of business, don't give up, just go for it. What matters is your know-how to treat your customers. It is your marketing strategy that matters. Try to gain at least customer care skill acquisition. Finally, mind the way you place prices on your markets; and always be truthful to your customers.

Two, you must make sure you know exact amount of money you need to start the business. This is the starting point for your personal business journey. After that, look inward, check your bank account to see if you can singlehandedly finance the business. But if you can not raise the money yourself, then follow my lead to take your dream to a bigger level.

How to raise money to finance your business:
1. Loan from Bank
2. Loan from your current company. But mind you, never expose the purpose of taking the loan for people don't like your progress.
3. From relatives
4. From general public

I will quickly expatiate the number four for better understanding. This method of raising money to finance your business is said to be more flexible. Having known the amount of money you need, get a pen and write names of people as much as you can. Write a letter to all the people you have taken  down their names; clearly and appealingly state the amount you would want them to help you with. Bear in mind, that this method is like writing a business proposal. No one wants to throw away his or her money; even if they are not giving up the money for interest, but they want to be sure you really have concrete business plan to utilize the fund judiciously. Therefore, you must clearly state the type of business you would want to set up; if possible, how you are to run this business, the goal, mission and vision of your new business in the letter, for this would be greatly understood by those you are writing this letter to for help.

For instance; Let's assume you need N1,000000 naira to set up this business. Now, this is how you are to draft your appeal and support letter. Ensure you concisely package your words, tell them that you want them to help and support you with the sum of N5,000. If possible, tell them what they stand to gain if they help you with this amount as your business grows from strength to strength. But mind you, never give empty promises. If you know you have nothing to offer them even if you business has grown bigger, don't promise anything. Those who have the mind to help will still help without promising them anything. Quick mathematics; 5000 x ? = N1000000
5,000 X 200 = 1000000. So, five thousand in two hundred places gives you one million. Therefore, your letter should be two hundred pieces. Distribute your letters, and keep in touch with them until you have achieved your goal.

Finally, entrepreneurs, business men and women have great advantage over those who work for people from January to December. Let's look at the following reasons every one should strive to become his own boss, as a big time entrepreneur, business man and woman:

1. Quick decisions are taken unlike when being a slave in another man's company
2. It is flexible and easy to establish yourself as an entrepreneur, business man or woman because it requires small capital to start
3. They have freedom to go anywhere at their own convenience
4. They never suffered sack fever
5. All the profits belong to the owners of the business
6. No submission of  any account or balance sheet to anyone for questioning
7. They have the opportunity of combining more occupations unlike when one is being chained down in another man's company
8. The possibility to withdraw his assets to  form another type of business without entering into any conflict with anybody
9. Full existence of privacy in the business because nobody intrudes into the affairs of the business as long as it's not under the control of any external body
10. Becoming an entrepreneur, business man or woman fit any environment unlike some salary earners, after being sacked, looking for job without seeing any or fit to fill the position of the available ones.
11. They are free from insult, harassment and embarrassment of the so-called company managers
12. They are always able to pay their bills and never face the hypertension of salary disbursement
13. They feed very well unlike salary earners who live from hand to mouth
14. They are free from the so-called company's wickedness of taking salary to shrine before paying staff
15. They don't borrow to feed, if at all they borrow, it's to boost up the business.
